Sri Aadhikesavaperumal Temple – Manapakkam (Sugandapuri) –Chinglepet,India

Location: This Sthalam is situated in Manapakkam village in Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu near Chengelpet on the eastern banks of the river Paalar. The place is at a distance of 10 kms from Chinglepet and can be reached by well laid road by bus, auto, cars etc.,whoIn this village, about 400 years ago, Sri Aadhikesavaperumal Temple was constructed.

Specials:

  1. This Sthalam is also called as “Sugandhapuri” as the temple was in the midst of fragrant flower gardens.
  2. This Sthalam is the birthplace of Srimad Kozhiyaalam Swamigal (Srimad Rangaramanuja Maha Desikar) who was born in March 1882 (Vishu – Panguni – (Anusham star in Tamil) )
  3. Srimad Thirukudanthai Aandavan & Srimad Srimushnam Aandavan (The Swami who now adorns the Pattam) have done Mangalasasanam in this temple and invoked the blessings of Lord Sri Aadhikesava.
  4. This Sthalam is also known as “Kannikoil Manapakkam” as seven Kannis (Spinsters) are said to have worshipped Lord Aadhikesava for their prosperity & wisdom.

The Deity:

  • The Moolavar in this Sthalam is Lord Sri Aadhikesavaperumal. He can be worshipped in standing posture.
  • The Thayaar of this Sthalam is Bhoomi Neela Devi.
  • Sri Vishwaksenar, Sri Nammazhwar and Sri Ramanujar are also there for worship.

The Miracle:
The Lord was benovolent, & saved the villagers from being submerged in the flood waters when the whole village was in desperate condition.This miracle occurred in 1940’s.

  1. Along the western banks of the river Paalar is Thirumalaivaiyavur Temple.
  2. Along the North-western direction of the River Paalar is the famous Maiyur Temple.
  3. Around 2 kms from Manapakkam is Ponvilainthakkalathur and nearer to that we can worship Ponpathirkoodam (Lord Chaturbuja Rama meaning Lord with seven hands)

Tiruppani Committee & Laksharchana:
The Temple has a Tiruppani Committee to plan about its utsavams and ensure renovations & programs & its progress.

On May 15, 2005 a Laksharchana was performed in an elaborate manner when the Lord was offered sacred flowers, while chanting the Emperuman`s severeal names, one lakh times.

The Tiruppani committee on its meeting held on June 2005& Feb 2006, planned to construct a vimanam and reconstruct the main sannidhi as well as to perform
